Applications Accepted March 3rd through March 31st, 2014

The Korean Cultural Service New York (KCSNY) is recruiting the 4th annual group of student reporters who will be actively reporting on various aspects of Korean culture in written and video forms. We will receive applications from March 3 to March 31, 2014.

Launched in 2011, KCSNY Cultural Reporters have been reporting on Korean culture related events and news in and around the New York City area including, but not limited to, traditional performing arts, music, visual arts, K-pop, food, and film. Over 120 articles and videos have been published electronically and have been further disseminated to a wider audience through our social media channels in addition to the official KCSNY website.

Having accumulated hundreds of thousands of views since the beginning of the program, the articles and videos have been noted for their enthusiastic vivacity and timely relevance. The Cultural Reporters project has gently, yet effectively, sowed the seeds of Korean culture in the global public’s awareness, continuing the expansion of what critics now call the “new” Korean Wave.

Applicants must be undergraduate or graduate students who will be able to report in New York or the surrounding areas until the end of December 2014. Those who are enthusiastic about spreading Korean culture worldwide are encouraged to apply. The selected Reporters will serve from May to December 2014 and their stories and videos will be published on online platforms including the websites of KCSNY, the Korean Culture and Information Service (KOCIS), as well as (run by the Korea Information Service, KOIS).

The application deadline is Monday, March 31 at 5pm ETD. Required forms can be downloaded from and completed applications should be submitted electronically to
