Korean Cultural Service New York presents “2013 NY K-POP Festival”
- Tuesday, August 20th, 4pm at the NYU Skirball Center for the Performing Arts -
- 1st prize winner will be granted qualification to participate at the
- Various Korean cultural events including food tasting and Hanbok wearing experience events will be hosted -
- Special performance by a Korean TV show, ‘Superstar K’ contestant, Christina Lee -
The third annual "2013 NY K-POP Festival" is held at the NYU Skirball Center on Tuesday, August 20th at 4:00pm.
This is a great opportunity for New Yorkers and local fans to gather and celebrate their love for K-POP. To elicit greater interest in Korean culture, various hands-on activities are planned, such as food tasting, and trying on traditional Korean clothing, Hanbok.
Woo Sung Lee, Director of the Korean Cultural Service NY, describes the event, “The NY K-POP Festival was organized to have participation of anyone who enjoys K-POP. We wanted to provide a place for fans in New York to experience K-POP music and Korean Culture with their peer K-POP fans.”

4:00 pm – 5:30 pm: Korean Culture Booth Events Before the main event, several booths will be set up in the lobby of NYU Skirball Center to have audiences participate in pre-events, such as: trying on Hanbok, bibimbap tastings, and other K-POP related booth events.
6:00 pm: K-POP Contest – Final Showdown The main event of the festival will have 9 selected winners perform on stage. The online preliminaries this year had over 70 talented teams compete. The winner of the Final Showdown will be awarded a grand prize as well as qualification to participate in the ‘World K-POP Festival’ held in Korea, October 2013.
There will also be a special performance by a Korean TV show, ‘Superstar K’ contestant, Christina Lee.
